When it comes to special event planning, a personalized key card is the perfect keepsake. Special event planning key cards can be used for weddings, bar mitzvahs, anniversaries, conventions, trade shows, or any occasion.

It’s a great way to customize your occasion and welcome guests. Every hotel guest in the block will use this memento to access their room throughout their stay. This is a very unique and elegant touch to special event planning that will be remembered.

Businesses of all types that want to reach hotel guests are utilizing valuable advertising space on the front and back of the keycard. Examples include food and beverage operations inside your property and those located in the immediate vicinity. Steakhouses, pizza restaurants and other take out places, malls, large retailers and shopping centers are among the many.

Generic Key Cards

Plastic Key Cards and Access Cards are compatible with your existing locks and entry systems. Our cards can be encoded on your premises by all widely used security systems. This allows you to reduce costs while maintaining the highest level of security.

Full colour printed plastic card

What is full colour printing?

Full colour printing is also referred to as process colour, 4 colour process or CMYK (which is short for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black). These terms all mean the same thing.

Colours have an effect on our emotions within 90 seconds of viewing; Colours can motivate, impress and persuade; Colour impression accounts for up 60% of the acceptance or rejection of a product or service.

Full colour printing uses these four ink colours, in one pass on the printing press, to reproduce literally millions of different colours and shades.

CMYK color model

The CMYK color model (process color, four color) is a subtractive color model, used in color printing, and is also used to describe the printing process itself. CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key black. Though it varies by print house, press operator, press manufacturer and press run, ink is typically applied in the order of the abbreviation. The “K” in CMYK stands for key since in four-color printing cyan, magenta, and yellow printing plates are carefully keyed or aligned with the key of the black key plate. Some sources suggest that the “K” in CMYK comes from the last letter in “black” and was chosen because B already means blue. However, this explanation, though plausible and useful as a mnemonic, is incorrect. The CMYK model works by partially or entirely masking colors on a lighter, usually white, background. The ink reduces the light that would otherwise be reflected. Such a model is called subtractive because inks “subtract” brightness from white.
Cyan, magenta, and yellow are the three main pigments used for colour reproduction. When these three colours are combined in printing, the result should be a reasonable reproduction of the original, but it is not. Due to limitations in the ink pigments, the darker colours are dirty and muddied. To resolve this, a black separation is also created, which improves the shadow and contrast of the image and also for any black text.

Cyan, magenta, yellow, and black (CMYK) inks when printed separately. During litho print production, these are printed on top of one another.

Full Colour Printing is Environmentally Friendly
Full colour printing is more Environmentally Friendly than 1, 2 or 3 spot colour (Pantone) printing. The solvents used to wash up the press from one spot colour to the next are not needed when printing in full colour – reducing chemical usage by 85%

Pantone or Spot Colour Printing
It must be bought to your attention that four colour process printing is unable to exactly match a spot or Pantone colour but it can produce a fairly close match.

Pantone swatch colours are displayed in special books which not only identify the colours via their unique reference numbers, but also by include the ratio of CMYK colours need to create, as near as possible, the Pantone colour.

Color Printing Process and High Quality Graphics

By | News | No Comments

One of the major benefits of plastic cards is the ability to have high quality custom graphics printed on the cards. The plastic cards act as a visual representation of the company that stand out from the competition. Many companies utilize their plastic cards as an opportunity to impress their clients. The plastic cards in effect become a miniature billboard for the company.

Plastic cards can be printed several different ways. Plastic cards printed without full-color graphics are printed using spot colors on sheet fed offset printing presses. With plastic cards that require only two different colors, the printing process is called a two color process. More spot colors can be added depending on how many different colors are needed on the card. There is a printing process called thermography which simulates the raised print effect of printing with engraved plates. The most common form of color printing used to print high quality graphics and photographs on plastic cards is referred to as four-color process printing. This process utilizes CMYK coloring for the reproduction of an image or text.

Plastic cards can be coated with a UV glossy coat which is applied in the same manner as another ink. This is accomplished using an additional unit on a sheeted press. UV coats can be applied on plastic cards like a spot color where certain areas are coated and others are left uncoated. UV coatings on plastic cards are generally highly glossy but they are more likely to show fingerprints.

When plastic cards are cut, small differences in where the blades cut the plastic cards can result in white edges if the design of the card does not have proper bleed. In order to ensure that the plastic cards will be cut without white edges, plastic card printing companies will ask for designs to be created with a certain percentage of bleed around the edges of the cards.

In order to print high quality photos or graphics on plastic cards, the card designs must be made in a resolution of at least 300dpi and all photos or images used must also be in a high resolution. Images that are normally found on the internet on websites are designed in a low resolution of 72dpi. This lower resolution is used on the internet in order to display images quickly. However, if these low resolution images are used on printed plastic cards, the result would be an image that is distorted and grainy rather than sharp and clear.

04-22-20105 Mistakes to Avoid with Printed Business Cards

By | News | No Comments

Printed business cards are a very important source for networking, advertising, and marketing your business and what you can offer to the public. Many businesses fail at reaping some of the greatest benefits of having a printed business card and utilizing it to its full potential. There are many mistakes that new businesses may be unaware of that can hinder them from obtaining customers. Here are 5 mistakes to avoid with your business cards:

A card that is not unique- Some people select cards that are the basic printed business cards, they are not unique and are like many business cards that get tossed away, ruined, forgotten, and are the same as any other. This is one of the biggest mistakes one can make when selecting a business card. Your card should be unique and stand out from all the others that may be your competition. Today’s printing technology can enable you to create a card that will leave your presence with whomever it is acquainted with. Do not settle for something blasé.

Flimsy and low-quality material- Some paper business cards can be nice, however they are not too durable and have limitations that plastic printed cards do not. When you choose a low-quality card, you are risking potential business, lacking in presentation, and may be seen as less appealing to prospective clientele. Try to choose something that is durable, can fit in a wallet or pocketbook organizer, and that will come in use when the need arises. Printed Plastic cards may cost a bit more, but they are well worth the investment, because they are long-lived, very attractive, and are high-quality business cards that will be remembered.

Lacking Essential Content- There are many businesses that forget to include important content in their printed business card. Every card should possess a characteristic, slogan, or small summary of why someone should use your service or purchase your goods. Your card should contain key points that indicate experience, reliability, and quality. In addition, try to make it clear to the potential customer why they should choose you and what it is that makes you special.

Presentation- Presentation and appeal are crucial elements that every printed business card should consist of. It should be eye-catching and attractive. The print should be legible and large enough for anyone to read. It should contain important information about your business, have no spelling or grammatical errors, and not be over clustered with artistry and text.

Color- The choice of colors on a business card can be a deal breaker. It is of great significance that you select colors that compliment your design are not too blacked-out, or too dull that they are boring to look at.Use colors that contrast and compliment-not those that blend and are unidentifiable.

If you try to avoid the common mistakes with printed business cards, you will be well on your way to a positive outcome, and optimizing your chances of landing valuable clientele. Remember that quality of material used, presentation, content, color, and uniqueness do make a grave difference in expressing yourself or company through your printed business card as to whether you are worthy of an individual’s business or not.

The Top 5 Reasons to Implement a Plastic Card Program in Business

By | News | No Comments

The plastic card is a powerful sales and promotion tool for UK business owners. Besides credit cards, there are plastic discount cards, plastic membership cards and other types of plastic cards that business owners offer to their customers. Here’s some basic information about implementing a plastic card program in your business.

Reason #1: Targeted Campaigns and Promotions

The information your business collects from customers’ plastic cards allows you to fine-tune your services and products for specific segments or groups of customers. Although some customers feel that a printed plastic card collects too much information and can potentially compromise their personal data, many other customers welcome these and other types of membership cards because of the “perks,” discounts and privileges attached to their use.

Reason #2: Reduced Advertising and Marketing Costs

If you institute a plastic loyalty card or discount card, you’re likely to experience reduced advertising and marketing costs because when customers possess such a card, they believe that they receive better deals from you than from competitors who do not offer a card. This encourages them to visit your business without having to be constantly motivated by costly advertising.

Reason #3: Increased Repeat Business

When you have a membership card or other type of card program, you’re likely to find an increase in repeat business because the card makes customers feel savvy and special. They perceive that they are receiving benefits and discounts not available to customers who do not have a PVC plastic card from your business.

Reason #4: Improved Feedback and Analytics

While in its simplest form, a custom plastic card for can simply have a unique number on it, more tangible benefits will accrue if the card contains a magnetic strip or barcode. This will enable you to assess the success of sales and promotions and track customers’ spending habits.

Reason #5: Increased Customer Retention and Customer Value

According to Fred Reichheld, a highly regarded authority on loyalty-oriented business strategies, if you increase your customer retention rate by just 5%, you stand to gain 75% in customer value. Reichheld cites an array of other benefits, including increasing sales from your existing customer base, identifying problems earlier and improving profitability.

Plastic card programs have proven track records in virtually every market segment in the UK. Why not discover how a low-cost, high-value hard plastic card promotion can help you increase customer loyalty, sales and profits?

General Contractors & Plastic Cards

By | News | No Comments

I recently got the privilege to work with a national recognized and accredited general contractor, 1 G.R. Builders. This business dominates central Ohio for residential and commercial construction. This company prides itself on quality craftsmanship, exceptional pricing and a commitment to their clients that is unsurpassed by any other company in their industry.

When Plastek Cards Inc was approached to help brand and market the company, we knew our business and gift cards had to be unique and trend setting. The end product needed to be an exact representation of 1 G.R. Builders. The company wanted to highlight a couple tasks that they specialized in; hardwood flooring, granite, ceramic tile, bathroom remodeling and general construction. Adding www.1grbuilders.com to the front of the card gives the client an easy reference to turn to, and also helps to increase the traffic to the company site. This was the perfect idea! Business cards need to be direct and to the point without overloading your potential clients with too much information. The final design that was approved for production was distinct and innovative.

The thickness of the cards were 18mil. This way their sales team and construction crew could easily carry several cards in their wallet, without being too bulky. They wanted their card to have texture to make it stand out above the rest, we achieved this applying a matte finish to both sides of the cards. The design of the card was simple and contemporary. At first glance it is somewhat reflective of a hotel key card. However if you study the card, the arrow will subconsciously bring your attention to the contact phone number that is printed. The color scheme in combination with a crisp modern font helped complete the design.

Often times some clients just want us to convert their existing business card design and print it on plastic. When we have the opportunity to work with clients that are willing to take a risk, and are involved in the design process the end result is worth it.  When working with 1 G.R. Builders, their creativity and design skills were impressive. The attention to detail was first-rate and they were involved in every step of the process from the beginning to end.
